I was browsing youtube for a song today, and somehow i ended up discovering a film that was made (Ai no Corrida), highly erotic, which inspired a couple of hit songs. With a little intrigue i dug a little and was led into a group of films that have been highly censored by some countries due to their highly erotic content for their times. And in this category, i found a film i actually have sitting in my shelf, that I picked up while browsing our dvd collection downstairs, which is mostly of family friendly movies, but it intrigued me, due to the cover and Marlon Brando was in it: Last Tango in Paris.
Therefore I browsed more and more, and apparently these are a couple of films that people hear of, but not many get to watch, and explore the sexual desires, the erotic nature of humans and the obsesiveness that drives some into sexual addiction...
I couldnt help but wonder, these films of 'mature content' which im sure my parents have seen but would never dare watch with me... have i lived what any of these characters have? Considering that 'Ai no Corrida' was based on a real life story... Could i identify with any of the charatcers' passion for one another at some given point? Can we all? is this why things like these are censored? because of the extreme depravity such extremes can lead to? Have some of us reached such abyss? Are they afraid? or in Denial?
Anyway, I plan to watch each and every single one of these... and get back to write about each. Nothing long, just a brief commentary on my experience watching each.
Last Tango in Paris (1972)

Ai No Corrida (1976)(censored in China)

The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988)

Damage (1992)

Unfaithful (2002)
